The essence of free jazz is...,

the fact that the most amazing moments come not when you plan for them, but when you plan for something else or nothing at all. Free jazz, the jazz of the wild ones, simply mimics real freedom; that wild uncertain gift that few of us really know how, or feel comfortable enough in our own skins, to utilize in our quest for true self- visualization. May the free jazz renegades ride on indefinitely, making folks feel uncomfortable all over the world, questioning if they are really ready to handle the freedom they so forcefully desire.

This message brought to you by a proud free jazz enthusiast and player who revels in seeing the contorted, questioning, curious, and frightened faces present at all free jazz and other improvised music performances on the world's many stages.

The next time you think freedom is something you can really handle and actually want, ask yourself if you can sit through John Coltrane "Live in Japan" or Albert Ayler's "Ghosts" and still feel like your daily existamce is compatible with real freedom.

If it is, please join the revolution!
