something to say.” –Political Affairs magazine

Minneapolis, MN- From the streets of Iraq to the ranks of the
military, internationally acclaimed unembedded journalist Dahr Jamail
has gone beyond the headlines to unearth the realities of war for the
Iraqi people and U.S. soldiers alike. With his new release, The Will
to Resist: Soldiers Who Refuse to Fight in Iraq and Afghanistan,
Jamail brings us inside the movement of military resistance to the
occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. As Pulitzer Prize-winning
journalist Chris Hedges said of the book, "Dahr Jamail’s human
portrait of the men and women who turned away from the project of
empire should serve as a beacon."

Meanwhile, Junkyard Empire has been developing an inimitable style of
political art aimed at providing, in their own words, "the soundtrack
to political protest." As URB music magazine describes, "take a blend
of jazz licks and funk grooves, and add to that the complex,
socially-conscious rhymes of MC Brihanu, and what you get is the
artistic body that is Junkyard Empire."

In a fusion of art and activism, Jamail and Junkyard Empire will be
joining forces to present Rebellion Politik, a political concert at
which Jamail will present, and the release of Junkyard Empire's new EP
of the same name.
